It's almost the end of summer! And what a wonderful summer it has been!
As you can see by the photo above, Jeff visited The Land and the Farm on his way back from a Baltimore business trip. He was fortunate to catch lots of big (and small) fish on The Land, and ride the trails at Nut Cracker Farm. All too soon he was gone. I miss him so much! I wish Angela and the kids could have visited, too. Maybe next year! Oh, and by the way, may I brag a bit? Jeff was overwhelmingly surprised to receive a Core Value Award from the annual meeting that the sales group had. He interfaces with them, but did not expect any kind of an award! It is quite an honor. His mother is VERY proud of him!
At the farm, the new windows are in place in the kitchen and dining room. A new beam had to be installed (see picture) by Daniel and his crew. It was quite a job. Kelly McCarty has just finished with the electricity into the kitchen and lastly the insulation is in place. Now we wait for the dry wall to be done, then I paint the drywall, the flooring goes in, and finally the cabinets. Wow! How complicated is this?!! But there's more...then the sink and granite countertop. Also slide in the range, install the hood vent, the refrig and built-in microwave. Wow! What a long way from a wood cookstove, a table and (if you were really lucky) piped in water!
It must have been Jeff's visit, but somehow I found the time (after he left, unfortunately) to clean up the porch on the second floor. I turned it into a summer sleeping porch for Katie, Chloe and Jack. I hope they like it when they come to visit! I hope you like it too, dear Reader.
The new pond has filled up - now only a few feet below the overflow pipe . Harrison Fisheries from Missouri stocked it a week ago, so now there are lots of little fish - and some catfish. They will grow nicely over the winter and next spring the fishery will introduce the bass, crappie and bigger fish. The pond is clearing up well.
I have some large and small creatures on the farm, including a young buck. Please enjoy the pictures! Also, as you can see, I have lots of flowers at the farm and at The Land.
Next blog I hope to have pictures of the kids. They started pre-school yesterday and were really looking forward to it!
What beautiful and cool days we are having! It seems fall-like already! Enjoy, dear Reader! Until next time....
