D. S. Vanderbilt certainly showed a lot of faith in me by lending me his camera today. I filmed the scene overlooking the lake, which will be the opening scene for my video. D. S. has such a professional camera...it's just a shame it did not have a professional cameraman (woman) today.
Dave H. was here and how we worked! He cut down the rest of the large mulberry (mostly dead) on the house site. There is only 3-4 feet of the trunk left which he will cut down later with a sharper chainsaw. The photo I have included today is Dave by the mulberry tree. Right now I am burning the mulberry that was cut today. We also picked up the old generator from Alana. I think it's going to work out nicely. We called Sears - it's a Craftsman - and found out it was manufactured in 1987. It has 3750 watts, which is great! Let's hope Dave can get it working. What a help it will be! I ran into Neva Grevengeod at Casey's today in Paw Paw. We were both getting donuts (shame on us!) and trying not to feel too guilty about it. She asked me what I was up to (no good!) and I told her about my new website and plans to build a Home-on-the-Hill.
"You don't even know what I'M doing," she replied with a grin.
"So,what are you doing?" I asked, knowing it was something wonderful by Neva's enthusiasm.
"Gerald and I bought Linda Avery's old farm house and we're redoing it. We took out walls and now we've got someone in there putting it back together," Neva laughed.
"You're going to sell your new home!" I surmised as she talked. Neva and Gerald built a brand new all brick, gorgeous home which many people would die for.
Neva nodded. "Everyone thinks I'm crazy," she said.
"Not me!" I replied quickly. "I completely understand. You need a farm."
She nodded her head. "I can't forget my roots. I know what I want...I know what makes me happy, and yes, I need a farm. It's only 4 acres, but it's a farm."
"Linda Avery will be so happy to know you are living there. I'm so happy for you, too"
As we left Casey's, Neva raised her donut in a dramatic salute and said, "Enjoy your donut!" We both laughed.
Neva is a special person...I like her so much.
Other people may think she is nuts, but one must return to the country if one is a country gal...like we are. I do completely understand. A woman's got to do what a woman's got to do...
I no sooner had left Casey's when I received a phone call from another dear friend, Nancy Freske. Nancy is another example of a woman following her heart. A little over a year ago she started yoga teaching classes - in depth - in Chicago and learned from many outstanding yoga teachers. Now Nancy teaches yoga out here - in Sublette, actually, and LOVES it. She's good, too. Everything is going so well for her. Again, like Neva, I could hear the excitement in her voice. Enthusiasm is such a wonderful gift to share with others!
Dear Reader, I hope, too, that I can convey my excitement over all that is happening as I progress toward a home-on-the-hill.
Nancy passed onto me (which I will pass along to you) several questions she asks herself whenever she wants to further her dreams and direction. We can always take stock of where we are with these six questions:
1) What do I really want to do?
2)How will I accomplish this?
3)Why do I want to do this? (In other words, how am I serving other people by doing this?)
4) Who is going to help me? (In Nancy's case, she feels her teachers AND her students are helping her learn what she wants to do.)
5) Where is all this going to happen? (In Nancy's case, instead of going into the suburbs to teach yoga, she found a need right in her back yard.)
6) When is this going to happen? (In other words, set a timeline to accomplish what it is you want to do. A reasonable time line.
I hope these questions help you. They are certainly helping me.
I'm tired tonight after all the physical work of gathering cut up logs and stacking them. It's a good tired. The day was overcast (as you can see from the picture) with occasional snow - but warmer. Maybe even 30 degrees! Yes, everyday spring draws closer. Instead of making hay while the sun shines, I'm making firewood while the snow flies! And I don't care if Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow or not - I know it will be an early spring!
Jeff Wolfe (my nephew) upgraded my website with a new tab labeled "Movie Site." Thanks, Jeff!
Jeff, my son, called tonight from his car on his way to a class (right from work). Thanks Jeff for calling!
My sis, Linda, called; do did Mom, and Michael. Good to hear
My family and friends are absolutely wonderful!
Life is good!
I hope these questions help you. They are certainly helping me.
I’m tired tonight after all the physical work of gathering cut up logs and stacking them. It’s a good tired. The day was overcast with occasional snow for the most part, but warmer – maybe even 30 degrees! – and yes, every day I know spring draws nearer! Instead of making hay while the sun shines, I’m making firewood while the snow flies.
Life is good!
More Work on the Hill, more work on the video
